Caring for Your ASMY

Your ASMY pieces are made from 18K PVD gold-plated stainless steel — chosen because it's waterproof, hypoallergenic, and built to resist tarnishing far better than ordinary plating. That said, a little care keeps the shine looking its best for years, not months.

The everyday rules

Think of jewellery as the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off. Perfume, hairspray, lotion, and sunscreen are the main culprits behind dullness over time — so get ready first, then add your ASMY. It's a small habit that makes the biggest difference.

Water is fine. Chemicals aren't.

Because our pieces are waterproof, you don't need to panic about rain, a splash, or forgetting to take them off before washing your hands. What you do want to avoid is prolonged contact with harsh chemicals: chlorinated pools, hot springs, saltwater over long periods, and household cleaning products. These won't damage the steel, but they can wear at the finish faster than everyday use.

Cleaning your pieces

When they need a refresh, use a soft, lint-free cloth (a microfibre or glasses cloth is perfect) and gently buff the surface. For anything more stubborn, dip the cloth in lukewarm water with a drop of mild soap, wipe gently, then dry thoroughly with a clean dry cloth before storing. Skip abrasive cloths, toothbrushes, tissue (it's more abrasive than it looks), and any cleaner containing bleach, ammonia, or alcohol.

Storing them well

Keep each piece in its ASMY box or a soft pouch, ideally separately — pieces jostling against each other is the most common cause of surface scratches. Store somewhere cool and dry, away from direct sunlight and humidity. If you're travelling, the original box does the job; for chains, fastening the clasp before you pack prevents tangling.

A note on pearls and stones

Pieces featuring pearls or set stones want a gentler touch. Wipe them with a slightly damp cloth only — never soak them — and always keep them away from perfume and hairspray, which can dull a pearl's lustre over time.
